Meet our owner & director

Hafiza A. Karim is the Director, Teacher, and Owner of Our Nurturing Village LLC, a home daycare located in the beautiful Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The daycare is dedicated to providing exceptional care for young children in a nurturing and enriching environment. With over 23 years of experience as a nanny, doula, and early childhood educator, Hafiza brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in child development and family support.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Hafiza relocated to San Francisco during the pandemic in 2021. She holds multiple degrees in Early Childhood Education and Childcare Management, with one of her degrees earned from National-Louis University, a highly rated institution known for its commitment to educational excellence. Hafiza is also CPR certified, with a strong background in food and safety protocols. As a mandated reporter, she is committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all children. Her deep understanding of children's needs is further enriched by her experience growing up in a large, close-knit extended family, which shaped her nurturing approach to childcare.
Passionate about her work, Hafiza is also a children's book author, creating resources to further support children's emotional and educational development. She is dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential in a loving, safe, and enriching environment.

At our daycare, our teaching approach is centered around individualized learning as well as collective learning. We use a combination of Montessori and play-based learning approaches to ensure that each child is able to develop their skills and knowledge in a fun and engaging way. Our approach is tailored to each child's individual learning needs and fosters creativity and exploration. We believe that a combination of individual and collective learning helps children to develop interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. We also use play-based learning to help children explore their environment, express themselves, and develop a passion for learning.
